1. What This Page Is
Telemetry uses an AI model in a few specific places. This page says exactly where, exactly what leaves our systems when it happens, what the model provider may and may not do with it, and where the results can be wrong. It is written to be checked rather than skimmed.
The provider is Google Cloud Vertex AI. It is listed on our subprocessor page at telemetrywealth.com/subprocessors along with everyone else who touches your information.
2. Where AI Is Used
- Avi, the assistant. When you ask Avi a question, your question, the recent turns of that conversation, and the figures needed to answer are sent to the model
- Transaction categorization. When a transaction arrives from a connected account or a file import, its description is sent to the model, which converts the text into a numeric representation used to match it against your existing categories. The description is the only thing sent. The amount, the account and your identity are not
- The weekly briefing. Summary figures already shown on your dashboard are sent to the model so that it can write the short narrative that accompanies them
That is the complete list. AI is not used to make decisions about you, to score you, to set prices, or to share anything with anyone.
3. What Is Planned And Not Yet Built
Importing PDF statements will require sending the contents of the statement you upload for extraction. That feature is not built. When it ships, this page will say so before it is switched on, and it will carry its own accuracy warning at the point of upload, because an extracted figure that is wrong and looks right is the specific risk of that feature.
4. What The Provider Does With It
Under the Google Cloud Vertex AI terms that govern our account, information sent for processing is not used to train Google's models. It is processed to produce a response and is not retained by Google for its own purposes.
Requests are served through Google's global endpoint, which means processing may occur outside the United States.
5. What Avi Can And Cannot Do
- Avi answers by writing a database query and running it. That query runs under a separate identity that can read and nothing else, is restricted to your household's data by the database itself, and is cut off if it runs too long. There is no path by which a question, however it is phrased, returns another household's data
- Avi can propose changes to your records, such as recategorizing a transaction. A proposal is shown to you and does nothing until you confirm it. What runs on confirmation is validated on our servers against a signed copy of what you were shown, so the change you approved is the change that happens
- Avi never edits investment records. Positions, trades and cost basis are read-only to it in every case
- Your conversations are stored in your Telemetry account so that you can return to them. They are stored in our database, not at the model provider. You can delete any conversation, and all of them are removed when you delete your account
6. Where It Can Be Wrong
An AI model produces a plausible answer, not a guaranteed one. In Telemetry that shows up in specific ways worth knowing.
- Avi can misread a question and answer a slightly different one, and the answer will still be phrased confidently
- Avi only knows what you have recorded. A missing account or an unimported month is invisible to it, and it will not tell you that the picture is incomplete
- Categorization guesses. It is right often enough to save real work and wrong often enough that you should expect to correct it, which is why every category stays editable by hand
- Nothing Avi produces is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Section 9.1 of our Terms of Service is the formal statement of that. Check anything you intend to act on, and talk to a qualified professional before acting on money decisions
7. Your Choices
- Telemetry is fully usable without ever opening Avi. Nothing in the product requires you to use it
- Automatic categorization runs on imported transactions and cannot currently be switched off for an individual account. Every category it assigns can be changed by you at any time, and a rule you write always takes precedence over a guess
- You can delete your conversations individually, and deleting your account removes them along with everything else
8. Changes
We will update this page when we add a new place where AI is used, or when what we send changes. A new use that sends information we do not send today will be described here before it is switched on.
