Options wheel

The options wheel, finally tracked properly

The wheel is selling puts until you are assigned shares, then selling calls against them. Telemetry tracks every leg, folds the premium you collect into a rolling cost basis, and shows true per-cycle profit, the numbers your brokerage statement will never show you.

Every leg of every cycle

Sell a cash-secured put, take assignment, write a covered call, roll it. Telemetry records each leg and links them into a single wheel cycle, so you see the whole strategy as one position rather than scattered trades.

  1. Sell cash-secured put

    collect $1.20

  2. Assigned

    100 shares @ $50

  3. Sell covered call

    collect $0.85

  4. Called away

Premium folds into your cost basis

Every premium you collect lowers your effective share cost. Telemetry keeps a rolling adjusted cost basis so you always know your real break-even, not the price you were assigned at.

Per-cycle P&L and collateral

See exactly what each cycle earned and how much collateral it tied up. A covered call on assigned shares inherits the original put's collateral, so returns are measured against the capital actually at risk.

The spreadsheet you keep rebuilding

Most wheel traders track this by hand, because the apps that hold their net worth flatten options into one balance. A spreadsheet works until you roll a position, take a partial assignment, or try to answer what a cycle actually returned on the capital it tied up. Telemetry keeps that math current without you maintaining it.

  1. Sell cash-secured put

    collect $1.20

  2. Assigned

    100 shares @ $50

  3. Sell covered call

    collect $0.85

  4. Called away

What you get

Common questions

What is the options wheel strategy?

The wheel is selling cash-secured puts on a stock you're willing to own, taking assignment if it drops, then selling covered calls on the assigned shares until they're called away, collecting premium at each step. Telemetry tracks the full cycle and what it actually earns.

How is adjusted cost basis calculated?

Every premium collected on the underlying reduces your effective share cost. Telemetry rolls these together so your break-even reflects all the income the wheel has generated, not just the assignment price.

Does it handle rolls and partial assignments?

Yes, rolls, assignments, and the collateral relationship between a put and a later covered call are tracked as one continuous cycle.

Why would I connect my accounts to something new?

Because the established apps do not track this. They will show your brokerage balance moving and call it investing. If the wheel is how you actually generate returns, none of them tell you what a cycle earned or what your real break-even is. That is the reason to be here, and if you do not trade the wheel it is a fair reason not to be.

What can Telemetry actually see?

Balances and transactions, read-only. It cannot place a trade or move money. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit, hosted on Google Cloud, and isolated per household. Formal certification like SOC 2 is a long-term goal, not something we claim to have today.

Is this only for options traders?

No. The wheel tracker is the part nobody else does, but it sits inside a full picture: net worth across every account, spending against a budget, savings goals, and real cost basis on ordinary positions. You are not giving up a finance app to get the wheel tracking.
